Polam Juniors

The Junior School at Polam Hall covers Reception through to Year 6 (ages 4-11) and includes three significant milestones in a child’s early development:

  • Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception)

  • Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)

  • Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6)

Polam Hall provides an inclusive education for all, regardless of ability, gender, race or faith and we believe strongly that every child has the potential to succeed if nurtured and supported along the way. We have high expectations of our children, including behaviour and politeness, and encourage them to take responsibility for their actions from an early age. We also take the time to acknowledge and celebrate their achievements in School.

Child-centred learning

This ethos is carried through everything we do, from the child-centred learning that takes place in our classrooms each day, through to the many clubs and extra curricular activities that our children are invited to participate in. Even the walls of our classrooms reflect our dynamic approach to learning – colourful, eye-catching and always busy!

We offer a challenging and stimulating learning environment with multi-media projectors in all our classrooms, our own fully equipped library, IT suite, gym and music practice room. We enjoy the benefit of 20 acres of landscaped grounds with dedicated play areas, wildlife and pond areas and sports fields. Our Juniors also have supervised access to many of Polam’s Senior School facilities – in particular, the main School library, larger computer rooms, and music centre, plus the additional shared facility of a purpose-built dance studio and our Liddiard Theatre.

School meals

School meals are taken in the main school dining hall where we operate ‘family service’ for Reception, Years 1 and 2, and a canteen service for Years 3-6. We view School lunch as an integral part of a child’s social development and class teachers dine with their children every day.
